Emperor Nicholas II Snuffbox
Exquisite marble snuffbox with gold plated monogram with "N II" for Nicholas II of Russia. Nicholas II was the last emperor of Russia ruling from November 1, 1894 to March 15, 1917. During his and his father's reign, the imperial family would often commission Peter Carl Faberge to create jewelries, stash boxes, and other trinkets for the Imperial Family. Most of the Faberge pieces commissioned by the Imperial Family were either for their personal use or gifts given to their closest friends.
Fabergé became famous for the enameled and jeweled objects he made for Tsar Nicholas II and his wife Alexandra. He took over his father’s business in St Petersburg in 1872. He carved hard stone figures and the superb quality of his enameling influenced even the great French jewelry houses.
